Planner/designer – Rebecca Gravel of From The Heart Weddings and Celebrations
They say that when it rains on your wedding day, it’s good luck. Well, what does it mean if you were already married? Double good luck?! I think so! The wedding between Paula and Johnny has a very special story. They were technically already married, having had a very small civil ceremony at their home a few months earlier. Paula’s Mom was very ill and was battling cancer when Paula + Johnny decided to have a small ceremony at their home in Ottawa so that her mom could be a part of it. A few months later, after her mom had passed away, they had a beautiful wedding surrounded by their friends and family at the Strathmere Lodge.
It poured rain all weekend but it didn’t phase them one bit. The night before the wedding, Paula went to the store to buy umbrellas and rubber boots for the bridesmaids because she was determined to have their wedding pictures outside. They braved the rain all day and when Laura Barclay, their wedding photographer, suggested walking across a very saturated field to get to a nice area for photos, Paula gave Johnny a piggyback across the mud. What a phenomenal couple! Paula had also incorporated touches of star wars to the day for Johnny – he’s obsessed!
The day ended with a beautiful reception out of the rain at the stunning Strathmere Lodge. Paula’s Dad showed such strength when he gave the most heartfelt speech to the newlyweds. He talked about how the whole family learned what love is from their Mom, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the lodge.
It was a beautiful day, full of love, and showcased what a strong bond Johnny + Paula have together. Congratulations to the lovely couple, and we know her mom was celebrating with her! Enjoy the pictures!!!
I’m such a huge fan of Minted and especially the Holiday Cards collection which is always stylish and elegant! These are some of the most amazing online holiday cards and with some absolutely gorgeous designs and options for 2017… you need to take a visit to their site!
Some of my favourtie designs include Foil-Pressed Holiday Cards and lined envelopes, and the fact that you can customize the look and feel of the cards, as well as choose from literally hundreds of designs, makes no two cards the same! Can we take a moment to address the letterpress holiday cards? Kinda the best thing ever! It’s elegant and you know you’ll receive so many compliments this season.
I love these top-voted Holiday card designs, as you can easily tell, and the 2017 collection is simply stunning. Wait till you see some of my favourite things from the 2017 collection. From original to easy all while respecting your budget this season, there is surely something for you from Minted!
My favourite card option is the Ornament Holiday Cards. This keepsake ornament card is actually the best thing ever. As much as I love holiday cards, my mantel is only so big. Adding the cards to the christmas tree is a nice way to add a little touch of love to their decor. I would love to get these from friends and family – such a nice touch to our decor… so i’m definitely going this route for our family card this year. Your order will include pre-cut luxe linen ribbons (10″ long) for you to tie to your ornaments. Add a custom backer to include more photos and a message.
The Ornament cards include the free recipient addressing option, which is actually an option on all minted cards, which saves time and gives a more polished feel! You can choose your paper stock as well as get creative with the layout, wording and colour options. It’s really so easy to do, and you don’t need a design degree to produce a really personalized and beautiful card.
Such a great idea and something everyone will love this season!
Added this year as a new service, Minted launched the Text Us Your Photo service. This new service is perfect for someone like me who is constantly on the go and chasing after little kids. Who has time to sit in front of the computer trying to decide the exact layout? Not me! Plus i’m sometimes horrible at making design decision. Can’t someone just do it for me? The answer is yes!!! As soon as we get our holiday family photo captured, i’ll be texting my favourite image to Minted so that they can design the perfect Christmas Card for me!
Simply text Minted your favourite holiday photo, and your Minted stylist will text you back your photo styled in 5 holiday card designs – for FREE. As in $0! Totally amazing and another reason why Minted is one of the best out there!
How it work:
It’s that easy!
One thing that stands out the most about Minted is the fact that they are affordable. The thought of personalization can freak a few people out. They automatically think it’s going to be very expensive. You can purchase customized cards for as low as $1.30 each! Yes… only $1.30 which is so affordable, especially after your big wedding!! The card featured above is from the Tidings of Love collection and is just one of the many designs at that price point which makes goes to show that the cards are equally as beautiful no matter what budget you are working with!
These are just some of the reasons why Minted is such an amazing choice for your holiday cards this season. Visit Minted today and start creating your perfect card!

We are so thrilled to share this breathtaking engagement session with you captured by the amazing Meghan Andrews Photography! Meghan tells us more about this beautiful shoot and how this American couple fell in love with our beautiful country!
Angel & Tim visited Canada for the first time from Texas, and they decided to have their engagement shoot here in the Rocky Mountains. I can see why they wanted to shoot here–BREATHTAKING is an understatement for this part of the world! The couple finally decided on Yoho National Park in Field, BC.
We started at the natural bridge which was hard to pull myself away from there, as there’s so many fascinating offsets, small beaches and paths that you can explore all day long. After we finished up at the natural bridge, we had to do a few photos at Emerald Lake Lodge. The ice is slowly starting to melt and you can start to see more turquoise clear water again which is just majestic. We did a few shots by the dock and on the boardwalk as well, the staff had already laid out canoes as well which are fun to play with!
For their engagement session, Samantha Ong and the couple went back to where their relationship all began. McMaster University! It was so pretty and they were lucky to have some spring cherry blossoms for some romantic photos.
Simply beautiful! Thanks for reading!

You will LOVE this styled shoot captured by Plum Rose Photography . This styled shoot is all about the lilac as well as the boho vintage feel.
Here is more about the shoot from Stephanie at Plume Rose Photography: I wanted to create moments with soft visual beauty and vintage elegance with a touch of Bohemian flavour to provoke the intimacy of the setting. I gathered a diverse group of stylistically powerful and creative women to breathe life into my vision and repeated those same three words: Lilac,
Boho, Vintage. Everyone quickly became infatuated and talks became ideas, ideas became plans, and plans became reality. The Nestleton Waters Inn was the perfect venue for the shoot, providing the most stunning and intimate outdoor backdrop. The natural beauty of the spring-fed pond and the lushness of the grounds’ pristine greenery provided such a perfect compliment to the vision. Aspen Florist handcrafted sensational floral arrangements in the most magnificent shades of purple and blush, impeccably paired with delicate greenery. The elegant, eclectic and one-of-a-kind vintage and Boho pieces from Southern Charm Vintage Rentals were hand selected and uniquely accessorized by Lavish Lily Design. The stunning harvest table and beautiful Chiavari chairs from Perfect Party Place provided a gorgeous foundation for our spectacular table-scape. Vogue Sposa Bridal Boutique sourced a breathtaking floral lace gown, designed and produced in Toronto, Canada by Anais Anette. From the make-up and hair, to the extraordinary
baked goods and stunning jewelry pieces, so many vendors contributed to this unforgettable styled shoot and I couldn’t be more honoured to have captured it.
